Supervisor Chairman Art Baer (R-Hillsdale) led the Columbia County Supervisors in pushing through the purchase of the Ockawamick school building without much of a plan. The million-dollar+ purchase paves the way for the relocation of DSS, despite concerns from citizens and government personnel. Now they are changing their minds and are not moving DSS, which is good, but now the county owns a $1.5 million building that they don't need and that they've taken off the tax rolls.

Despite massive resistance from citizens, the Columbia County Supervisors, led by Chairman Art Baer (R-Hillsdale), are pressuring to relocate Pine Haven Nursing Home from its Philmont residence without any consideration of the impact to either Claverack or Valatie.
